Looking for help with this cigarette case. My instinct says it is Italian but...

Got new pics of the mark with different light and I can see now like a 5 points star. The guy that sold me the case told me he bought it in Berlin circa 1950




The is clearly a number 45 stamped also, thats why I thought it was italian but could it mean the gold degree in the verniel?
