What makes you think it is silver? Please don't answer that "somebody told me". Usually, no marks (hardly) not silver. Jam or serving spoon or ...?

"..said the goldsmith.."!? If he didn't explain why he "think" it is silver, his statement is not worth much, sorry. It is impossible to determine a metal by just looking at it. Of course it could be silver, I don't deny that, but without any marks whatsoever it seldom is.
