silver scissors

Postby Sebastian » Thu Dec 25, 2014 11:29 am

Could somebody help identify the mark on this pair of scissors, 15 cm long, and made entirely of silver, the blades as well as the handles.

There is only one mark on them, which resembles an 18th century French mark, that is why I am posting it in the French Silver section. But is it really French, as there should be 4 marks I thought?

Doesn't look French to me.

Just a guess. Forgery Spanish colonial mark?

Thanks for your response, I had a feeling these scissors weren't French. Perhaps a country bordering on France, who copied their style of mark? Problem is that there is only the maker's mark, no national or town mark.
I've checked Belgium, but no success in the books by Stuyck and by Van Dievoet. Switzerland in the early 19th century perhaps?
Could this post be moved to the Other Countries section please, where there are a couple of experts on Swiss silver.
