Baffled!

Hello,

This lovely spoon has me baffled as to which country it was made in. I'm presuming it is continental as it is .800 grade. Any ideas anyone?

Thanks in advance to anyone who can help.

Greg.

Hi Greg,

I've embedded your images as few people will click on links. (Great images BTW)

This appears to me to be typically Italian. Hopefully someone can identify the maker.

Since the late eighteenth century existed in Milan the three columns workshop, which certainly lasted until 1850 and most likely beyond this date.
One of the marks attributed to this workshop, around the years 1812-1820 was drafted like this

It is quite similar to that of the photo, except that there is a B instead of a P at three o clock.
However the absence of mark of the globe with triones and the presence of the mark 800, suggests a much later period, probably after 1870.
