Scottish Snuff Box?

I have inherited this snuffbox and have no idea of its history although I know it was my grandmothers since 1940. I have ancestors from Sheffield and Banff. Many thanks for any help.

Welcome to the Forum.

When you get the initials 'GE' and Banff in the same topic, the silversmith George Elder is the name that springs to mind, however this mark does not appear like any that is recorded for him.

I'll move the topic to the 'Other Countries' section of the forum to see if we have any luck there.
