help to ID this Maker's Mark

I haven't had any luck in identifying the mark on this very large Sterling tray and I'm not sure if it's American or not. The tray was evidently made to sell in the South American shop "Serpico Y Laino" according to the stamp. There is also "925" , a diamond with "441MI" and the tiny top mark which looks to me like the head of Caesar with 3 characters stamped on it - so small I'm not sure if they are numbers or letters. Can anyone help?

Serpico & Laino were a very up-market retailler in Caracas, Venezuela. A number of rare top quality watches (e.g. Rolex) were double-marked with their name.

I think your tray however is probably Italian - can you precisely describe the mark in the hexagon? I looks like it ends in MI which is probably Milan.

Thanks for your reply. This tray comes from a very well-to-do family in Venezuela who now live in America. They have many fabulous pieces of artwork and antiques that they were able to bring with them. I described the mark you asked about as "diamond-shaped" in my 1st post. I'm quite sure it reads "441MI" so you may be right about Milan. I thought it could possibly be Italian also - but I'm not familiar with any Italian Silver.

The Italian registration number 441 MI was issued to Boggiali sas of Milan.
