Venetian Fork, c.1700

Postby Granmaa » Sun Sep 22, 2013 11:27 am

This fork is in the same style as the Venetian spoon I posted last week. Does anyone recognise any of the initial marks? FP and FC?

In this case, the answer can only be even more vague.
The mark with the letters FP may correspond to the mark number 424, that belongs to one of the unidentified assayer of the seventeenth century. The other mark can be the number 487.
Here, the book reads that could be attributed to one of three silversmiths listed, ranging between the beginning and the end of the seventeenth century.
As you can see a very vague answer.

Vague or not, it's still helpful.

Thank you, Amena.

The information that I posted are taken from the book
Argenti Italiani del 700- V.Donaver R. Dabbene
By ther same authors also exists
Argenti Italiani dell'800, in two volumes
The first concerns the warranty marks of the states, the second one the marks of silversmiths.
