A little help please - Vienna Austrian Sugar Box

Postby yury455 » Sun Apr 21, 2013 9:14 pm

Hi All,

Just wondering why would this silver sugar box? be stamped twice with the Vienna "A" import mark?
From my searches on the forum I was able to identify that this piece is by Josef Zauza, Austrian/Vienna origin.

Thank you for your help in advance!

*Correction this might be a jewelry box... hence the lock.

But why would it have airflow at the top?

Thank you,

a Lock was normal for a sugar box. Sugar was expensive.

Hi,

Welcome to the Forum.

I'm reliably informed that is the mark of Josef Zischeck of Vienna.

Trev.
