serving tray

I amtrying to figure out the origin of this serving tray that i came across, the engraving i had translated to mean "christmas saloon" however next to it is a mark that no one can seem to recognize. can anyone help me here?

Are you sure this piece is silver? Looks more like pewter or britannia metal.

Hello, believe that Trev is spot on, this looks like typical German art nouveau pewter (Kayserzinn or the like). The engraving was done on behalf of a German student, "Kneipe" is German for pub, if German students use that word it means they meet (not necessarily in a pub, by the way) to get senselessly drunk. The sign on the right hand side is that of a German "Verbindung", a student's club. Don't know which one. Best wishes, Bahner
