German 17th C ? Wine & Water Jug -- Unknown Marks ! Help!

Postby speed2401 » Fri Feb 04, 2011 6:25 pm

Hello!

Can someone help me please? I have those two jugs but I do not know what country or city are they. Either what period. On the handles ther are the Austro-Hugarion Napoleonic war time toll mark for the city of Graz (12 H). The other ones I do not know. It looks German but I don't know.
Many thanks

Mikolaj

Hello,
I have no idea about the marks, but V and W looks for me like Vine and Water. Jugs for vine and water are used in the Christian religious ceremony.

I think the same, they are often on a special tray for transport and stockage.

Sorry, when I wrote my comment, I didn't saw that the topic already said "Wine & Water Jug". :-)
