Can anyone pin point these marks?..Not sure if Scandanavian?...When I received them my initial thoughts were Austro/Hungarian.<P>Any assistance would be appreciated.

Your basket is made from silver of 800-1,000 fineness by »FB« = Frantisek Bibus, in Moravská Trebová, Moravia, CS.

The indication of the second mark, in front of the »FB« maker’s mark, is: .800 silver alloys; in use from 1921 (1922) — 1928 (1929).

This as a kind of “first aid” for you — I would now search; maybe in between I find out the model number too?

Silver baskets, made by »FB« = Frantisek Bibus, in »3000« stylistic range.

Yours silver baskets are in their stylistic in Frantisek Bibus »3000« stylistic range - actually I couldn’t find out more. Well, this »3000« stylistic range of Frantisek Bibus is very inhomogenous!

So it seems to me now, that the »3000« model numbers maybe also more object group, or time frame oriented, then stylistic oriented? Sorry, I couldn’t research deeper, for lack of documents.

Well, in the »3000« models are beaded rims more often usual by Frantisek Bibus as in others. Not only in metal; but also by some glass liner, then in a kind of optical interpretation as well.

In other series, like »4000«, »5000«, »6000«, »7000«, »8000« and »9000« I’ve found only very few items, which had on their rims an application of beads.

But it’s very interesting, that similar styled handles as these ones of yours baskets, were used by model number »3387«, a »fruit basket« (on a kind of pedestal; measuring unknown); and reused for model number »4017«, a »stewed fruit bowl« (in 3 different diameter of 8, 9 and 10 inches).

So the time frame of the design of yours “pierced” baskets could maybe estimated from about 1905 on, until before the First World War? Designed before model number »3387«? Or between model number »3387« and »4017«?

But remember: Yours baskets are assayed 1921 (1922) — 1928 (1929).
