Bookmark purchased in Spain, origin unknown

Postby flyingwoolf » Sun Feb 07, 2010 5:00 pm

My husband bought me a silver bookmark with an ivory / bone top (I'm not sure which) from an antique shop in Spain. The two marks on it are '925' and an image which looks like a sort of double headed 'g'. I can't find anything like it on the internet, and would be interested to know if anyone can help me with the origin of the piece. The shop was in a town with a very large foreign population, so it could have come from almost anywhere.
Any information or ideas would be much appreciated.
Many thanks.

Hello

It's a pity that maybe only a few humans, who coud read Arabic, search these pages and there included questions.

It seems to me, that this bookmark could have an Arabic origin?

Kind regards silverport

Hello

Please, tell me what is in the top right of 925.

This brand is similar to those currently used in Spain today.

M1................ Madrid
C1 and C2..... Cataluña
V1................ Valencia
A1................ Andalucia
B2................ Baleares

There isn't anything else next to the 925 - it's just a mark in the silver.

Ah - I didn't know they used marks like that. It's possible that it is that type of mark, but there's nothing visible in the top box. It would make sense that it is Spanish though. Thanks for your help.
