HOF Blade/LF Handle

Postby LisaEck » Tue Oct 20, 2009 9:40 pm

My husband brought me a set of 6 knives to research on the web & I've had no luck.

The blades are marked HOF - except for 1 of them. It has no markings. The blades vary slightly in height & width, are very thin & seem to be hand crafted. Despite their apparent age, they are still very sharp.

The handles are marked LF - 5 out of the 6 knives have the LF marking on the same side as the HOF; only one of them is on the opposite side.

The blades are magnetic, the "hollow" handles are not.

The blades seem to be welded to the handles.

Any guidance would be very much appreciated.

The HOF lettering varies in size, placement & depth. On one of the knives (see photo) the "O" in HOF is discolored.

Hello, hard to tell from the pics, but this could be a mid-19th century German piece. Hof would be the blade maker. Best wishes, Bahner
