Italian compote?

Postby kalo93406 » Thu Aug 28, 2008 6:37 pm

Hi.. do you all think this is from Italy? I couldn't do very well with the mark. At first using a magnifier i thought it might be "pastelli" or something like that. But now looking at the close up photo I'm wondering. Looking now it looks like RLSTLLL4. Any ideas out there? thank you.. R:)

This looks pretty high quality and well made to me.. do you think so? What makes a piece of silver better quality.

The brass liner and the compote are both stamped with the number 4.. I guess to keep the pieces matched up? Does that indicate if may have been part of a larger set typically?

Is a compote used for serving fruit usually?
