Help with date, Makers Mark and Country of this case

I recently found this case. But I can't find anything on the makers mark, the date and the country of make (I supouse it from germany). Can anyone hlep with the maker, country, an approx date?

Definitely Italian; the provincial code "MI" is for Milan. I can't read the last digit of the registration number (645? 646? 648?) but the 640s in Milan were registered in late 1961 and early 1962. As the outline of Italian registry marks was altered in 1968, that gives a pretty narrow time frame: Milan, 1961-1968.
