Swiss Bossard with unusual stamp

Postby SwissSilverBuff » Fri Jan 25, 2008 7:29 pm

Hi,

I have a "tastevin" from a swiss golf tournament long ago with a stamp that isn't on the list. I would assume it to be swiss as it was for a golf tournament at the Zurich Golf & Country Club.

Any ideas?

Thanks

S

Absolutely. Bossard was an important Swiss firm located in Luzern/Lucerne, founded by Johann Balthasar Bossard (1809-1869) and continued by his son Johann Karl Bossard (1846-1914) and then his grandson Karl Thomas Bossard (1876-1934). They won numerous awards, including a gold medal at the 1889 Exposition Universelle in Paris. The cross flanked by the two stars was the company's mark: the family arms of Bossard of Hochdorf.

Wow, you really know your stuff.

I wonder why such a famous traditional silversmith family's stamp never made it into the lists here? Or did I miss it. I could only find a few very primitive swiss stamps.

Do you know to whom I should send the stamp, that it may be added to the list?
