Interesting figural goblet with unknown mark

Postby mr mad » Thu Dec 13, 2007 6:57 pm

I recently purchase a pair of silver goblets that I am trying to find more information on. They stand about 6 inches tall, with a figural centaur as the stem. There are 2 marks that I cannot identify and am hoping for some help from you. I couldn’t get a good picture so I had to draw them. One is a star and the other is an interesting hallmark. I would like to know the company that made these and if they are sterling or not.

Have a look at World Hallmarks - Spain and let us know if you have a match.

Different star

The star on my piece has the lines that I have shown in the drawing. The Spain mark referenced is a full star with no lines, so I think its different.

Actually, it has the lines, the image is a little fuzzy. Is your mark in a circular outline?

Match

Yes there is a circular outline, and given your example does have the lines on the star, I believe I have a match. Can you aid in determining the manufacturers hallmark? This would be a great help.

Unfortunately, I have no references for 20th century Spanish maker's marks. Visit our links page, click on Munoz-Arce, they may be able to help.
