Interesting Spoons, very thin and no mark...

Okay, I am pretty "silver stupid", but these looked so finely made that I bought them even though they were so black with tarnish that I couldn't see a mark. Once cleaned up, guess what? Still no mark. I've just not seen anything made like these spoons, with little "nailheads" almost in the bowl of the spoon.

Can anyone tell me more about this type of piece?

I have been there. Bought 12 spoons and 12 forks. When cleaned up it looked like silver - but marks were french and maker of electro pate. Marks look like yours in shape, but I cannot see what is written in your marks. Try to post a better picture of marks.

Hi hose-dk - do you know I didn't even see those as marks, I thought they were something to do with the construction of the spoon! I will look much closer this afternoon and try and get a decent photo of both sides. They ARE marks!

I will be back by this evening with more photos hopefully.

I have several 19thC Austro-Hungarian spoons with this sort of marking in the bowl but they have tested as silver - the one on the left looks like Diana

I am so sorry I didn't get back right away with more photos of the marks, I had technical difficulties (meaning every photo was blurred!)

kerangoumar, the one on the left DOES look like a profile of a head maybe - just realized I was looking at them upside down, too.

Hi,
Yes, a profile of a woman in a kerchief looking left, this a silver guarantee mark from Czechoslovakia used 1922-1929. The outside shape of the mark indicates .800 purity. There would also be a #3 just behind her head. The initials are the maker's mark.
