Silver Cup Mark

Post by juantotree »

Hi

This small silver cup has just one mark which is on the base. I can't really make much of it, it may be initials or something else, does anybody recognise it?

Many Thanks
Martin

Thanks for the reply, there are certainly some similarities but I am not totally convinced.

Not Romania, the mark on the beaker differs to much with the 2 dolphin mark of Romania. For comparison;

I believe it to be a maker's mark script L??, in trefoil. It could be 17th century.

I disagree, Peter, I don't think it is could 17. century.
If it would 17. century, it would make with different technic, and the engraving would be different too.
I think it is from the end of the 18. to the middle of the 19. century.
Somewhere in middle of Europe. (Poland, Germany, Hungary)
But this is only another opinion.
Best regards!
