The above clearly reveals pellets between the letters that are not shown in Grimwade. This may be the mark described on page 147 adjacent to that of No 2002 as "a smaller mark same date [20 Dec 1815] " OR "A third smaller 2.6.1816"
It would appear from Leslie Southwick "London Silver-hilted Swords" that Moses William Brent came upon hard times as his wife petitioned the Goldsmiths' Company in 1823 , presumably for charitable relief . (Court Minutes 8 August 1823). Leslie Southwick has unfortunately conflated Moses Brent with his son Moses William Brent and the account is slightly difficult to disentangle .
