19 June 1819 Christopher George son of Thomas Botly of Jane Street Commercial Road in Middlesex gentleman apprenticed to Joseph Angel of Compton Street Clerkenwell in Middlesex silversmith.

Grimwade makes mention of a third brother of Joseph, Abraham, who was apprenticed to him in 1808. The below newspaper report may refer to the said Abraham:

SHOCKING CASE.—Mr. Abraham Angell, a silversmith and jeweller, residing at 26½, Red Lion-street, Clerkenwell, was charged with assulting with intent to commit a rape on his own daughter, Caroline Angell, a girl of twelve years of age. The prosecutrix, a comely-looking and remarkably intelligent girl, cried bitterly when confronted with her father. The prisoner's wife and daughters, who were in court, seemed much affected. The prosecutrix deposed that at four o'clock on the previous evening the prisoner called her up to his bedroom, and having given her some money, directed her to bring him some refreshments. She did so, and when she brought them up her father was in his night dress. She deposed that he dragged her into the bed, and notwithstanding her intreaties, committed the offence complained of. The child added that he held her in bed by main force until her sister came up stairs, when he set her at liberty. The sister, Mrs. Gough, swore that having heard a child cry and a confused sort of noise in her father's bedroom, she went up and saw the child getting out of bed. She was crying. Witness asked the prisoner what he was doing to Caroline, but he threatened to beat her. The child then told what her father had been doing to her, and when her mother came home she gave him into custody. The prisoner coolly cross- examined each witness, but did not in any way shake their direct testimony. When asked what reply he had to make to the charge, after having received the usual caution, he exclaimed, "Oh it's all a tissue of lies." He was fully committed for trial.

Whereas Isaiah Robert, of Tooley-Street, in the Borough of Southwark, and County of Surrey, Silversmith, hath by indenture of assignment, bearing date the 29th day of January 1834, assigned all his estate and effects unto Joseph Angell, of Panton-Street, Haymarket, in the County of Middlesex, Silver-Plate-Manufacturer, and Joseph Robert, of Cross-Street, Islington, in the County of Middlesex, Gentleman, upon trust, for the equal benefit of such of the Creditors of the said Isaiah Robert as shall execute the said indenture of assignment; and which said indenture was executed by the said Isaiah Robert, Joseph Angell, and Robert Robert, on the 30th day of January 1834, in the presence of, and attested by, Luke Freeman, of Coleman-Street, London, Solicitor.
