Grimwade's suggestion that McDuff may have entered a mark from Prujean Court prior to the Parliamentary Report of 1773 is further endorsed by the Land Tax assessment books as early as 1752 listing him at that address. There was also a Land Tax assessment in his name in 1755 for property in Gun Powder Alley which fizzled out after one year.
Lawrence, the son of Lawrence and Charlotte McDuff, was christened at St Martin, Ludgate in 1755.
