MUNS, John (Grimwade p.604)

Post by MCB »

William Wing of Gutter Lane, London signed to be his apprentice in 1763. He was turned over on 28th March 1768 to William Café (Grimwade p.457, 740) by consent of his father William who was also the executor of John Mun’s Will.
The Will of John Muns, silver turner late of Goldsmith Street, London, was proved for probate on 22nd March 1768 (National Archives reference PROB 11/937/281).
The timing of these events and the entry of a mark by Elizabeth Muns (Grimwade p.604) on 3rd May 1768 from Bull and Moth Street, despite no marriage record or christening records for their children having been found, suggests she was John’s widow.

I can find no mention or indication of John Muns having been married at the time this will was written and proved. His children were provided for and that seems to be the extent of it. John Muns does list a daughter named Elizabeth first among his children and mentions coming of age as prerequisite for their final inheritance from him.

William Wing is noted as John Muns' brother in law in this will which points to Elizabeth as the sister of William and John's wife.
