He may have been the John Hiccox, son of John Hiccox deceased malster of Birmingham, who was granted freedom by redemption in the Glovers Company in 1729 and listed in the 1750 London Poll Book in that Company as a watch maker from Hatton Wall.
Land Tax assessments from 1729-34 on property in Bartlett’s Buildings, Holborn were made on a person of this name.
As a freeman in the Glovers Company he took on apprentices Edward Jenkinson in 1733 and Charles W Wagner in 1741.
William the son of John and Mary Hiccox of Hatton Garden was christened at St Andrew, Holborn in 1738. Their address was Great Kirby Street when their son Thomas christened at St Andrew’s in 1750.
