He was christened at St Luke, Finsbury in 1784, the son of John Grisar, a jeweller and his wife Mary. There appears to have been a 10 years delay in this ceremony as his marriage in 1796 and age at death point to his having been born in 1774.
Banns were read at Christ Church, Southwark in 1796 for him to be married to Letitia Hallam; they were both from that parish. A resulting marriage record has proved elusive. The banns register has charred edges; the marriage register may have suffered more seriously!
He was assessed to Land Tax on property in Dorrington Street, Clerkenwell from 1796-1800, on property in Strand from 1806-30 and in Hans Place, Chelsea from 1831-36. He had entered a mark at Goldsmiths’ Hall in 1813 as a gold worker from Salisbury Street, Strand.
The death of Letitia Grisar was registered in Dartford Kent in 1858 but further references to her husband after 1836 are not to be found again in the UK until 1869 when, at the age of 95 years, his death was registered in Steyning, Sussex. The extract of his Will for Probate shows he died in New Shorham but was previously living at 18 Church Street, Lambeth.

Pat (Silverly), having used his specialised website search magic, has suggested to me that the 1851 UK Census entries for John, a landed proprietor and Letitia, found transcribed under the name GRIGAR from the original record of GRIZAR, shown as born around 1775 and 1756 respectively and living at 53 London Road, East Wickham, near Dartford, Kent might be relevant. This appears to be the case.
Pat also wondered if the 1861 Census entry for John GRISON born in St Martin's in the Fields around 1775 and recorded as a lodger at 18 Church Street, Lambeth without a note of his source of income might have some relevance. The address and age link GRISON to John GRISAR.
