Postby MCB » Wed Jul 24, 2013 4:25 am

He was christened John Abraham at St Luke, Finsbury in 1794 the son of James and Susannah Eagles.
He married Catherine Mary Morgan at St Dunstan and All Saints, Stepney in 1818; they were both from Mile End Old Town.
The christening records for three of their children at Christ Church, Southwark in 1822 show their address as Broad Wall and for three more of their children at St John the Evangelist, Lambeth from 1827-29 their address as Canterbury Street. Their father was shown as a silversmith throughout.
His wife Catherine Mary died at Canterbury Street in 1829 aged 39 years.
He entered a mark at Goldsmiths’ Hall in 1833 as a small worker from 5 Cock Lane, West Smithfield.
He was listed as a silversmith at Crompton Street, Clerkenwell in 1841, notified Goldsmiths’ Hall of a move to 21 Coberg Street, Clerkenwell in 1844 and was again listed as a silversmith at 20 Charles Street near Old Street in 1851.
He died in 1859. He had latterly been a “Fancy Shopkeeper” at 10 Lamb’s Place Kingsland Road, West Hackney. In the same year Letters of Administration for his estate were granted at the Principal Registry to his son George, a silver mounter of Clerkenwell.
