He was born in Hemel Hempstead, Hertfordshire around 1807.
He entered a mark in 1836 at Goldsmiths’ Hall as a gold worker from 21 Oxendon Street, Haymarket where he was listed as an optician in both 1841 and 1851 UK Census records.
He had retired to Hemel Hempstead by 1861, his address until his death in 1880.
His Will was granted probate at the Principal Registry in the same year. His estate was valued at under £40000.
