Postby MCB » Mon Jul 08, 2013 4:40 am

The son of Robert Chandler, a farmer from Gilmorton, Leicestershire, he was apprenticed to John Wightman (Grimwade p.327) of the Clockmakers Company in 1717 and free in 1724.
He entered a mark at Goldsmiths’ Hall in 1725 as a case maker from Turnagain Lane, Snow Hill.
Edward Gibbons (Grimwade p.293) signed to be his apprentice in 1726.
Page 55 of Watchmakers and Clockmaker of the World lists him as a freeman until 1737 and records his death as 1741.
