No records of apprenticeship or freedom have been found.
Thomas Reeves in 1754, Isaac Bailey in 1761, Timothy Godfrey in 1767 and Richard Wimpenny in 1770 all signed indentures to be his apprentices. He was a freeman of the Gunmakers Company.
He entered a mark at Goldsmiths’ Hall in 1769 as a gun maker in The Minories.
Trade Directories as a gun and weapons maker from 1768-74 show him at 91 The Minories, from 1775-79 at 10 Little Tower Street and from 1780-90 at 93 Great Tower Street.
