He was the son of John Lees, soap boiler of Christ Church, Southwark, apprenticed in 1786 to Thomas Wintle (Grimwade p.707-8, 771) of the Vintners Company.
He was last assessed to Land Tax in 1810 on the property in Eagle Court (recorded by Grimwade as Eagle Place), St John Street from where he had entered a mark at Goldsmiths Hall.
No further record of him has been found.
