He married Elizabeth Kohler at St James, Piccadilly in 1801.
Records at the same church show a daughter christened in 1803 and buried in 1804, the burial of a John Kohler in April 1805 and a son John Augustus (Grimwade p.573) christened in September 1805.

The Will of John Kohler, musical instrument maker late of St James’s Street, was proved for probate on 5th April 1805 (National Archives reference PROB 11/1424/50).
