He continued to be assessed to Land Tax on property in Gutter Lane until 1744. He had entered a mark at Goldsmiths Hall as a smallworker from this address in 1710. The property was empty in 1745 and occupied by a new tenant in 1746 suggesting Hitch had either retired from business or died.
