He was christened the son of Richard and Mary in Thornbury, Gloucestershire in 1795.
He married Dinah Robertson at Christ Church, Newgate in 1816.
Christening records for their children show their father as a silversmith or silver spoon and fork maker at Lower Coleman Street, Bunhill Row in 1816, New Street Square in 1819, Marquess Court, Drury Lane in 1822 and 123 Drury Lane in 1827.
He entered a mark at Goldsmiths Hall in 1833 as a spoon maker from 145 White Cross Street, St Luke’s.
