A christening record at St Giles Cripplegate in 1733 for William, the son of William and Ann Ashbee, shows his father was a watch case maker confirming Grimwade’s suggestion of the nature of trade.
There is a contradiction in the text on page 426 and the entry relating to the incuse mark listed on page 324. The date of entry of the incuse mark was probably 1730 not 1750.
