23 June 1769
Only known mark registered as a smallworker at Peartree Court, Clerkenwell. This is in St Lukes, Old Street, parish.

Shown in the PR1773 as a bucklemaker where he is listed as having had 1lbs 1oz 2dwt of silver broken after assay in the year May 1771 to May 1772. [The writer has yet to see an example of his mark on a buckle. The marks of Simeon Coley and Samuel Cooke are unlikely to be confused with his squarish Roman Capital mark with a pellet. ]

[There was an earlier Samuel Chester, Silversmith , Saint Bartholomew the Great City of London whose will was proved at PCC on 16 February 1730 - not recorded by Grimwade as entering a mark.]

Further Data from MCB - Thanks Mike
