GRACE, John (Grimwade p.527)

Postby MCB » Tue Aug 07, 2012 5:57 am

The Parliamentary Report of 1773 into the manner in which the English Assay Offices conducted business shows between 23rd May 1771 and 29th May 1772 19lbs of his plate failed to meet the standard.
He is recorded as registering his first and only mark in February 1772. As mentioned the list of substandard silver ends on 29th May 1772; he seems to have been in a lot of trouble in a very short time.
No later records have been found for him.
