William Andrew was christened at St Andrew, Holborn in 1771, the son of William Peers and Ann Beckwith of Leather Lane.
Indentures were signed in 1785 for him to be the apprentice of Wattell Clark, Citizen and Gunmaker.
Indentures were signed in 1814 for Samuel, son of George Seager the Younger, Citizen and Gunmaker to be his apprentice.
He entered a maker’s mark at Goldsmiths Hall in 1810 from Skinner Street. Curiously Grimwade notes the mark was registered as a gold worker.
As a widower in 1814 he entered into a contract to marry the widow Elizabeth Beckwith who must have been a relative of his. A registration of the marriage nor that of his previous marriage have been found.
The christening record for their daughter Louisa at St Andrew, Holborn in 1815 shows their address as Snow Hill, and the records at St Sepulchre, Holborn in 1818 for son William Andrew and in 1820 for daughter Eliza show their address as Skinner Street. All show their father as a gunmaker as does the 1841 UK Census record for the same address.
His death later in 1841 was recorded at the West London Registry.
