SHALES, John (Grimwade p.312)

He was born around 1785 in Greenwich.
He entered his first maker’s mark at Goldsmiths Hall in 1828 as a case worker from 21 Bartholomew Terrace, St Luke’s parish and notified various changes of address in the same area 1829-42.
In 1841 he was living in Rahere Street and in 1851 at 30 Wellington Street, St Luke, still working as a watch case maker.
His death was recorded at the St Luke Registry in 1863.

John Sales age 76 born in Greenwich is listed in the 1861 UK census at 10 Johns Row, Finsbury as a watch case maker.
