The 1861 UK Census records he was born in Cripplegate around 1781.
He married Frances Elizabeth Matthews at St Bartholomew the Great in 1810; both were from that parish.
The christening record at St John, Clerkenwell in 1814 of their son John shows their address as King Street. He entered a maker’s mark at Goldsmiths Hall as a case maker from that address in 1816 and also one from Red Lion Square later in the year.
In March 1817 he had entered another mark as a case maker from 72 Compton Street, Clerkenwell.
The christening records for a further seven of their children at various Clerkenwell churches show their address as Red Lion Street and their father as a watch case maker.
He was shown on the 1841 UK Census at 66 Red Lion Street, aged 56 years and a watch maker.
He had retired by 1851 when he was a visitor in Canterbury.
In 1861 he was living in Twickenham.
His death was registered in Canterbury in 1866 aged 81 years.
His Will was proved for Probate at the Principal Registry in 1867. The value of his estate was under £14000.
