He married Sarah Richardson at St Mary, Islington in 1796; both were from that parish.
He entered a maker’s mark at Goldsmiths Hall in 1811 as a watch case maker from 7 John’s Row, Brick Lane.
The christening records at St Luke, Finsbury in 1814 for two of their children show their address as previously and their father as a watch maker.
Indentures were signed in 1814 for Charles, son of William Arslett, watch dial plate painter, to be the apprentice of John Fells, Citizen and Goldsmith of the previous address.
The burial of John Fells aged 54 years, late of Ligurier Street, Finsbury, recorded in 1830 at St Luke, Finsbury is probably relevant as the burial of Sarah Fells in 1838 at the same church showed the same last address.
