BOTWYLE, William Henry (Grimwade p.445, 405)

Grimwade regards this silversmith, whose first recorded mark in August 1772 was as a smallworker in Clare Court, as the same man as the Botevyle listed by PR1773 as a bucklemaker, Clare Court. This assumption seems a reasonable one. It also seems likely that the William Henry Boutevile , given in the Bucklemakers section of Grimwade as entering a mark at 17, Charterhouse in May 1776 is also the same man.
His mark has been seen on buckles of the 1770 - 1780 period although rarely .
