He was christened in 1800 at St Mary, Stoke Newington the son of John Clavering Lowrie and wife Mary.
Indentures were signed in 1814 for him to be the apprentice of Thomas Walker (Grimwade p.324), Citizen, Clockmaker and watch case maker of Albermarle Street, Clerkenwell.
He entered a maker’s mark at Goldsmiths hall in 1823 as a watch case maker from 8 Botolph Court, Botolph Lane and another in 1830 as a case worker from 4 St James’s Place, Clerkenwell.
He married Sarah Shenston at St Leonard Shoreditch in 1831.
The 1841 UK Census for St Pauls Place, Islington recorded him as a linen draper.
The 1851 UK Census for the same address recorded him as a watch case maker employing two apprentices and two boys.
He has not been found on the 1861 & 1871 Census records.
His death was recorded in 1874 in the Eastbourne register.
The Will of Ebenezer Lowrie, gentleman formerly of Sidmouth, who died in 1874 at 72 Pevensey Road, Eastbourne, was proved at the Principal Registry and administration granted to his widow Sarah. The value of his estate was under £200.
