PEARCE, Richard (Grimwade p.617, 762)

Postby MCB » Thu Mar 29, 2012 5:26 am

He was christened at St Mary Magdalene, Bermondsey in 1790, the son of John and Elizabeth.
Indentures were signed in 1817 for William, son of William Wells, watch maker of St Sepulchre to be the apprentice of Richard Pearce, Citizen and Clothworker to learn his art as a silversmith.
1841 and 1851 UK Census records for Hill Street, Peckham, Surrey show him as a silversmith.
No further information has been traced.

1871 UK Census Richard Pearce born 1790 Bermondsey Surrey, annuitant, living at 66 Hill Street.

There's an eighty-nine year old Richard Pearce recorded in the fourth quarter 1874 death register for Camberwell that may be a possibility for this gentleman.
