Indentures were signed in 1817 for William, son of William Wells, watch maker of St Sepulchre to be the apprentice of Richard Pearce, Citizen and Clothworker to learn his art as a silversmith.
1841 and 1851 UK Census records for Hill Street, Peckham, Surrey show him as a silversmith.
