The burial of John Carman of Holborn was recorded on 12th January 1764 at St Andrew, Holborn .
Mary Carman entered a maker’s mark at Goldsmiths Hall on 20th January 1764 confirming Grimwade’s view that she was John’s widow. No record of Mary’s death or re-marriage has been found.

The Will of John Carman, cutler late of London, was proved for probate on 14th January 1764 (National Archives reference PROB 11/895/154).

14 March 1722 (NS) John son of John Carman and Mary New Street baptized at Saint Brides Fleet Street London.

14 July 1758 Mary Carman Widow will proved. Her estate was under forty pounds, and her house on New Street was left to her son John. Having seen Mary Carman's and her son John's will, it is clear to me that Margaret was the name of John Carman II's wife. However, the manner she used to sign her first name made it such that it could have easily been mistaken for "Mary." She wrote Marg with an indistinct remainder to her first name above the "arg."

27 September 1766 Ebenezer Coker (Grimwade p.467) of the Parish of Saint James Clerkenwell in the County of Middlesex Widower and Goldsmith bound in marriage to Margaret Carman Widow.
