BENOIMONT, Louis (Grimwade p. 438, 737)

There are details recorded on Familysearch website of the christening of Louis Victor Benoiment in 1723 at Glasshouse Street & Leicester Fields French Huguwest (sic), Westminster. His parents are recorded as Richard Victor & Marie Margurite.
As a widower in 1755 he married spinster Elizabeth Bickerton of Bookham, Surrey at St Ann & St Agnes, Aldersgate. From a christening record for his daughter Mary in 1748 his first wife had also been named Elizabeth.
He entered makers’ marks at Goldsmiths Hall 1761-4 as a smallworker from Carey Lane.
As a goldsmith he paid Duty for the Apprentice Indentures of Samuel Woodyear in 1765 and Jno. Campion in 1766.
There is a burial record at St Mary, Islington in 1783 of a Lewis Benoimont aged 59 years.

Benoimont took Luke Kendall appprentice in 1750 and entered a mark as a smallworker in partnership with him in 1761 at Cary Lane. They appear to have parted company fairly soon as Benoiment entered a solo mark in 1764 and Kendall in 1766.
Benoiment was fined for substandard buckles in the 1763 - 1769 period .
His second wife, the spinster Elizabeth Bickerton , does not appear to be the sister of Henry and Benjamin Bickerton. Although unmarried at the time of signing of her father, John Bickerton's will in 1747, she proved it in 1754 as Elizabeth Clarke , formerly Bickerton.

Lewis Benoimont's daughter Ann's 1811-12 freedom by patrimony paper does not give any other forenames, but I believe her mother's name was Elizabeth, so this could be her. (Lewis Benoimont's freedom is recorded on this record as 1749.)

2 January 1756 Louis Benoimont London Goldsmith paid apprentice indenture duty for John Clear.

5 September 1827 Ann Benoinment of Saint Andrews aged 68 years buried at Spa Fields Burial Ground.

The below notice reveals that 'E. Benoimont' was 'Edward Benoimont':

Notice is hearby given, that the partnership carried on by us the undersigned Edward Benoimont and Richard Knight, as Jewellers, at No. 33, Charles-street, Hatton Garden, in the County of Middlesex, under the firm of Benoimont and Knight, is this day dissolved by mutual consent; all debts to and from the said Copartnership will be received and paid by the said Edward Benoimont; as witness our hands this 30th day of June 1804.
