BARBOT, Paul (Grimwade p.430)

He married Elizabeth Davies at St George, Bloomsbury in 1759. He was recorded from St Giles in the Fields parish.
Duties were paid by him as a goldsmith of St Giles in the Fields for the Apprentice Indentures of Stephen Gauden in 1765 and William Sanford in 1771 .
He entered his only mark at Goldsmiths Hall in 1771 as a goldsmith from Seven Dials.
Trade Directories indicate he was still at St Andrew Street, Seven Dials until at least 1782 rather than 1779 as Grimwade has noted. Trade Directory entries also indicate he was at Tottenham Court Road from 1785 rather than from 1790.
An entry in "The Times" in December 1798 offering a reward for information on the whereabouts of a missing person shows his address was 6 New Road, Fitzroy Square.
Elizabeth Barbot’s burial was recorded at St James Piccadilly in 1826. She was aged 89 years; the first part of her last address is indecipherable but continues as New Road which was presumably the marital home at Fitzroy Square.
His death record is still to be traced.
