He married Mary Bryan in 1791 at St Luke, Finsbury; both were from that parish.
There are christening records for two of their children, one in 1792 at St Mary, Islington and the other at St Luke, Finsbury in 1795; neither records the parents address.
He entered his only maker’s mark at Goldsmiths Hall in 1818 as a plateworker from 27 Seward Street, Goswell Street.
The burial in 1834 of his wife Mary aged 71 years is recorded at St Luke; her last address was Golden Lane.
His burial in 1845 aged 79 years is recorded at the same church; his last address was Old Street.

BADDELEY, JOHN (Brit.). London Die-sinker of the first half of the nineteenth century. He worked as a trade medallist and was practically unknown outside the trade, with whom however he enjoyed a reputation for good workmanship. His business was carried on tor thirty years in Hackney; the original house, established by his father, John Baddeley, of Compton St., Clerkenwell, combined with medal and button die-work, deep dies for striking the patterns on spoons and general silver work. John Baddeley junior's son is the present head partner of the firm of Baddeley and Reynolds.

BADDELEY and REYNOLDS (Brit.). A firm of London Die-sinkers, who have executed a number of medals for the trade. The head of the present concern is Mr Frederick Baddeley who has cut numerous medal dies, none of which are signed.

30 October 1846 John Baddeley then living at 142 Old Street Saint Lukes in the County of Middlesex in possession of a freehold in Basket Alley Golden Lane will proved at London.
