5 April 1809 John Thomas son of John Neate was apprenticed to his father clothworker of London.
2 September 1818 John Thomas son of John Neate was admitted into the freedom city in the company of clothworkers by servitude. If it makes any difference along the way the son was a solicitor.
9 September 1845 John son of John Thomas Neate of (Duke Street, Manchester which is crossed out followed by) Someset Street, Portman Square Middlesex clothworker of London admitted into the freedom of the city in the company of clothworkers by patrimonty. John Thomas Neate silversmith was on Duke Street in the 1841 UK Census, and 40 Duke Street, Manchester Square is the address Grimwade gives for John Thomas Neate's first mark.
