DEWIN, Joseph (Grimwade p.310)

Born 1769.
Christening record Joseph Dewin, son of Benjamin and Elizabeth at St Botolph, Aldersgate dated 25th June 1769.
In 1783 he was apprenticed to Bartholomew Need (Grimwade p.289, 333).

He entered a maker’s mark at Goldsmiths Hall in 1824 as a case maker from 35 Charlotte Street, notified a change of address to 91 Aldersgate Street in 1828 and another change to 17 Red Lion Street, Clerkenwell in 1834.
He was still at the latter address as a watch case maker in Pigott’s London Directory of 1839 and for the 1841 UK Census.

1851 UK Census Joseph Dewin age 82 Almsman from Goldsmith Company (formerly watchcase maker) at Goldsmith's Almshouse, St Leonard, Shoreditch.

Died 1853.
