LOVE, George (Grimwade p.585)

From his will it appears that George Love originated from Ickleford in Hertfordshire
The Inland Revenue Stamp Office files show (ref 20/22 of 1754) an apprenticeship of a George Love, (no father given on the transcript) apprenticed to Mathew Lee of London, wheelwright who may be him.
A flimsy copy in the card index at Goldsmiths Hall gives details of an Insurance taken out 24th March 1768 with Sun Life Insurance.

Dwelling House £450, Coalshed, Workshouse, Vault and Workshops adjoining each other behind the house £125. Another workshop and large shed adjoining behind the aforesaid £ 125. Total £700.
22 November 1773- Daily Advertiser reports
"On Thursday [ 18 November 1773] died Mr George Love , Goldsmith in Worship Street, Moorfields"
The will of George Love, Silversmith of St Leonard, Shoreditch dated 17th November 1773 was proved at PCC on 29th December 1773
".. .. me George Love of Worship Street in the Parish of Saint Leonard Shoreditch in the County of Middlesex but at Winchmore Hill in the Parish of Edmonton in the said County Silversmith .. .. .
.. .. My body to be put into a plain Oak Coffin without being covered with cloth of any kind the Furniture thereof to be plated with Silver And that I be buried in the Church Yard of Iccleford [ Ickleford ? ] in the county of Hertford as near my late dear Father and Mother as convenient.. .. .. "
[the Will shows that he is putting his affairs in order by having effectively sold his share of the partnership to John Faux for £2000 in the form of a bond repayable ,with interest, at specfied times. The Will makes it clear that he has been sick for some time and it appears that it, and the bond from Faux were made on his deathbed - he died the day after making them ]

I give and bequeath the said Mr John Faux the Sum of Ten Pounds for Mourning I give and bequeath unto Mrs Sarah Faux (Wife of the said Mr John Faux) for her great care and tenderness of me during a long Illness Fifty Pounds I give and bequeath to Master Tommy Faux (Son of the said Mr John Faux) Ten Pounds. I also give and bequeath unto the said Tommy Faux all my Books .. ..unto Mr William Partridge of Hoxton in the county of Middlesex Silversmith the sum of Five Pounds "

I hereby nominate constitute and appoint the said Andrew Cooper of Iccleford Mills aforesaid Mealman and Benjamin Jones Doctors Commons London Gentleman my Executors .. ..
